A session is an indexing run of FileTrove. When you start FileTrove with the flag “-i”, a new session will be created.
Every session gets a unique identifier, a randomly created id. All files and directories are connected to this UUID. You also need this UUID to export a session.
You can get a list of all session UUIDs by running ./ftrove -l
. In the column UUID
the ids are listed.
Some years ago Apple introduced in MacOS Gatekeeper. This technology is designed to make sure that only trusted software runs on your Apple computer. While this is in general a good thing, despite not being perfect, trusted means signed and advocated by Apple, needing a payed service. It also gets in the way when rapidly publishing releases. As a result you have to allow FileTrove (ftrove and admftrove) explicitly. You can do that by following this steps, more information can be found here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491
